Women’s hand touches at Türk Prysmian Kablo from production to management.

Türk Prysmian Kablo, Turkish operation of worldwide leading company in energy and telecommunication cables industry, Prysmian Group makes a difference in line with its sustainability vision with the importance it attaches to women's employment in the cable industry which is a traditional industry. Türk Prysmian Kablo, where 40 percent of its total employees are women, stands out among the 50 countries where Prysmian Group operates.

Prysmian Group, worldwide leading company in energy and telecommunication cables industry, attaches great importance on women's employment in line with the sustainability goals. As of the end of 2018, 30 percent of the total workforce of the group operating in 50 countries, consists of women. Prysmian Group is making powerful progress towards having 12% women managers in 2020; it increased this rate to 10.8% in 2018 which was 6.4% in 2017.

“A leader with the rate of women employees in the cable industry”

The Group's Turkish operation Türk Prysmian Kablo which has been conducting its activities in Mudanya since 1964, stands out with the sustainability studies and women managers and employees within the traditional structure of Turkish cable industry. Türk Prysmian Kablo has a total of 535 employees and 40 percent of white-collar employees are women. Having been managed by Italian CEO Cinzia Farisè since September 2019, Türk Prysmian Kablo’s women executives change the patriarchal understanding of the industry with the trainings that they receive in Italy. Purchasing Manager Gamze Keçeci who is responsible for the procurement of strategic metals of the company stands out as one of Turkish people who participated in international leadership training of Prysmian Group in Italy.

“She received training as the future leader in Prysmian Group”

Gamze Keçeci, who has been working at Türk Prysmian Kablo since 2010, is working as Purchasing Manager at the company's factory in Mudanya. Mrs. Keçeci graduated from the Department of Industrial Engineering at the top of her class and the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering ranking third in her class. She also participated in the International Leadership training given to the future leaders of Prysmian Group. Mrs. Keçeci, who will complete the training given by Bocconi University in Italy this year, continues her career in Mudanya factory of Türk Prysmian Kablo as one of the prominent women employees in the industry.

“As role models increase, so does the number of women employees”

According to Eurostat, 59% of about 18 million scientists and engineers in Europe were male and 41% female in 2017. Stating that women’s employment is increasing day by day in the cable industry, Gamze Keçeci says “In my first years of working, being a woman employee in a male-dominated working environment was challenging; however, since Prysmian Group's global corporate policy doesn’t discriminate in terms of gender in the industry, I had many role models. As women leaders and executives increase within the group, a highly productive working environment is being created for me and my future female colleagues.” and expresses the importance that Prysmian Group attaches to women's employment.
